"That's lovely"

Everywhere we go we hear "That's lovely" and I couldn't figure out why salespeople and customers were constantly using that phrase when they made a purchase.  I finally figured out that it's a lot like saying "you're welcome".  I guess it puts a whole new spin on politeness.

You can certainly say "that's lovely" when you see the quant little towns up and down the highways.  Every highway always takes a detour through the little villages.  I think it's to make sure you don't get too bored with seeing green hills and cows so they throw in several roundabouts and streets lined with cute shops and businesses.

After we checked out of the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis we decided to go back to the Bunratty Castle so that Rita could take the tour (she was too tired on Sunday).   She loved it and was surprised that they actually had a recreated village inside.  It was the highlight for her.

You may have started to figure out I was getting a bit frustrated with always being lost and decided we would go back to the Shannon airport and get a GPS.  After talking with the older gentleman who couldn't figure it out, I passed it on to Rita who couldn't do it either.  The final decision was to finally get a MAP with all the roads and numbers.  God Bless the Map Makers!!!! So now we were on our way to Killarney via several little picturesque towns.  Adare was something out of a book and although it was pouring we just enjoyed walked down the streets and wishing we could live in one of the little thatched houses. Did I tell you that everything always looks like it's just been scrubbed.

I told Rita that she needed this sign for her kitchen

NOW THIS IS LOVELY!!!!!!  These little places are homes and businesses

We're spending the night in a "lovely" B&B called Grove Lodge that overlooks the river.  I don't think there is a place is Ireland that doesn't have a beautiful setting.  Tomorrow we are going to attempt to drive around the Ring of Kerry, but the weather has been so blustery that we may not be able to see anything so we'll see how it goes and if not just make our way to Cork.

  1. Maybe I've missed it, but what about a picture of where you're staying....or are you staying in one of the castles?
